Swipe File pt. 7

In senior socratic we are reading Life of Pi. The author's (Yann Martel) writing is so beautiful and his use of metaphors and similes really brings more vibrancy to the book.

"A strip of hide came off the Zebra's belly like gift-wrap paper comes off of a gift." (pg. 125)
"She looked like a refrigerator on crooked wheels." (pg. 127)
"Memory is an ocean and he bobs on the surface." (pg. 42)
"...I was a fish god." (pg. 196)
"I felt I was beating a rainbow to death."( pg. 185)
"The sea is a city." (pg. 175)

Metaphors and similes are very key in stories. Even by comparing a monkey to something as random as a fridge, adds so much imagery.
