Swipe File pt. 8

One of the easiest things in life to swipe from is the people around you.

• My younger brother asks me to paint his nails a different color every week but he is the star of his baseball team and plays video games every spare moment he has.
• My friend is obsessed with cars. He draws them, paints them, spends hours working on his own car. One night after we finished eating at a restaurant, he left to get his car while the rest of us paid, a minute later he dashed back in looking like he saw an angel but in reality it was only a Toyota supra.
• The elderly lady who lives two houses down, never fails to open the door every Monday and Wednesday saying, “Come in, come in dear,” somehow knowing it is me despite being legally blind.
• My mom once told my sister and I that girls use to brush their hair 100 times before they went to sleep to make it shiny. My sister tried one night, but fell asleep on the 62nd stroke.

These characteristics of people may seem random and unimportant but they aren't. They are a part of someone. As weird as it seems, swiping from real people and adding some of their traits into your story or characters makes it feel way more real and unique.
