Hi this is my latest post about my actual portfolio of my stuff. The following story is the background story to explain how the world became filled with magic, and magical beasts.
However, when the myths of old resurged into modern day they also brought back the means to fight them, magic. With the resurgence of magic, the world began to change yet again, after 400 years of being altering humanity and the wildlife, noticeable changes occurred. The first of which the reversing of the Dividing, sealing the planet’s halves back together into one unrecognizable Earth. The Dark things still ruled the lands, but Humanity was not what it was before. The magic had altered them in ways that allowed them to survive their environment, those who lived in the forests became Elves, those who hid in the caves became Dwarves, or Goblins, depending on where they lived. Most of Humanity didn’t change at all, others decided to live in places where the dark things couldn’t reach them, in some cases the highest peaks, or the depth of the ocean, using the remnants of the Old Earths technology to survive. Those became the Mer-men, and those who took to the peaks became like giants of stone with skin as hard as rock. The creatures of Old Earth changed as well, Rocs, unicorns, basilisks, phoenix’s, giants, etc all of these things were a result of the Changing, as it was later called. Finally after 1000 years of chaos, loss, and change, Earth returned to peace.
In the year 2982, a massive crack nearly broke the earth in half, running thousand several miles wide and a few hundred miles deep, the crack shorted out all electrical systems, millions of people died in the earthquakes and chaos that followed. During the aftershocks of the crack, the continents were broken apart, and crashed together, terraforming the planet. This event was later known as the Dividing, though what followed after was even worse. Dark creatures thought to be myth and legend surged from the crevice in the planet, thousands more were slaughtered, from the population of nearly 10 billion, only a few hundred thousand remained. Humanity was sent back to the bronze age, losing most of their technology in the process. For the next 2000 years, humanity struggled back into existence.
